New Brunswick - Hopewell Rocks

We went to see the Hopewell Rocks in NB. It was a grey and rainy day (much like most of the days we were in NB, actually). I think Rowan's favourite part of the Hopewell Rocks was the seaweed on the rocks (the tide was out, obviously), but she seemed unimpressed by the rocks themselves. Here are a few pics of us:

New Brunswick - Part one

As most of you probably know, we went to NB at the beginning of August to visit my east coast family (Hi guys!). We drove there, about 12 hours each way, leaving at midnight each time and arriving in the early to mid-afternoon. The drive went quite well, I think. Rowan was quite well-behaved with only a small amount of whining when she was getting tired of sitting still. We got out and stretched our legs a few times when Rowan was hitting her sitting limit. We got her a portable DVD player for the car, so Dora was kind of our saviour for a few hours of the trip, too.

On our way down, we stopped at a rest stop that had, among other amenities, a large patch of blueberry bushes! Rowan was excited to discover how blueberries grew and ate as many as she could cram into her mouth, telling us and herself to eat only the blue ones - and saying of the green ones: "this one not ready yet".

A couple of days after we arrived, we were out near Shediac and we went to see the ocean. In this part of NB, it borders on the Northumberland Strait rather than the Bay of Fundy, so it is much calmer and warmer. Rowan loved it.

And a few more from July

Rowan loves to wear other people's shoes - the bigger the better!

Our little fairy seems to have inherited the gardening bug from her Grandma - she even helped plant our garden and has continued interest in what's growing. Rowan is especially interested in the tomatoes now that they are getting red - although she did sort of harvest a couple of green ones one day.

Tomatoes are pretty much her favourite "vegetable". (I know, I know, tomatoes are fruit, but it is the closest thing to a vegetable that Rowan eats.) She's a very picky eater, but at least she loves fruit.

Nigel is super proud of his little fix-it baby. She loves to use his tools to "fix" things. Here she is using her plastic screwdriver to repair the dishwasher. She always puts the point into the holes of the screws. Rowan really wants to know how things work and how they are put together, just like her daddy. :-)

a teaser photo from June...

There are more photos coming, just not today.

more photos!

Here are a couple of photos of Rowan in our new house. She loves the "noo haus", especially the backyard which is fully fenced and grassy.

Here she is in her new bedroom (pre-reno). She was especially excited about hiding in the closet and playing hiding/peekaboo games with whoever would participate.

Here she is in the master bedroom (isn't the panelling and wallpaper combo sexy?)

I bought Rowan a toy tool set to play with, since she is excited by all the real tools around during the renovations. She "helped" daddy take a phone apart with her plastic screwdriver and has been trying to disassemble anything that has a screw. So funny! She wants to "fix" things; I think she's going to be a daddy's girl.

Cuteness in the bath (at our house on Darling)

Ahem. Nigel's co-worker gave us a couple of bags of clothes, which Rowan was super excited about. She wanted to try on all of the "cuute!" items. At the same time. She has about five layers of clothes on at one point. Then, Nigel fell asleep on the floor and Rowan piled all of the clothes on him. Then she climbed on him (I wasn't quick enough with the camera to get that one, unfortunately).

The Bridgeman-Vezeaus have been very helpful with our new house - everything from construction work, to baby care, to meal preparation. Your help has been very much appreciated. Thanks again, everybody!

Feeding time!

Our Darling house is full of ladybugs. Rowan likes to bring me dead flies and bugs, but sometimes they start moving again.

Rowan has taken to lining up all of her "friends" on the sofa. And on windowsills. She also likes to heap them all up and fall on them... I mean, cuddle them.

some photos from March

hoo boy. sorry about the delay in updating. I have had this series of photos ready for weeks but haven't posted them...

mostly because our househunt is over! We are now the proud(?) owners of a new/old house - we took possession at the beginning of April and are in the process of renovating. Some pre-renovation photos of the house will be featured in the next set. :-)

Stitch is pretty much Rowan's favourite stuffed toy at this point.

Cute hair attack!

Every time Rowan wears these PJs, she says that the penguins are dancing. And singing. It's super-cute.

finally! an update

Hey all. Househunting and snow-madness has been keeping me from you, loyal Rowan-watchers. The frustration of ultra-slow dial-up doesn't help, either!

Rowan has so many new words I can't keep up. I can't even begin to list them. You would just need to hear her chatting in person to believe me anyways... She even knows some of her letters already (can identify them when asked). What is crazy is that she has more words than most of the two-year-olds at playgroup.

Here are some long-awaited photos!

We had a big Winterlude family gathering with the Gougeon clan, which was great fun. We did the canal and Rowan got pushed around in the buggy. She liked it until she got cold. I think Rowan will find it more exciting next year.

Rowan has been teething a bit. She's working on three or four at one time, poor pet.

'Cause nothing is cuter than a baby sticking her face right in the lens.

Rowan loves Maya. A lot. With her face.

Rowan has taken to climbing. She's on a footstool, grinning like she just made it to the top of Mt. Everest.

Got boots? Got bin? Yeehaw! Let's go for a ride!

more recent photos

Here we have a bunch of photos from today - imagine! recent photos!

Rowan has been sick with a cold the last week or so - a cough and runny nose, but is still feeling well enough to play.
Rowan has been having lots of fun with her ball now that she can walk - she kicks it, bounces it, and carries it around.

And sometimes she rolls around with it under her tummy.

Rowan hiding in the "outhouse." She doesn't want guests when she's in the 'house and will slam the door on you. Thankfully, it's just cardboard.

Rowan and her mama in a quickie portrait.

And a photo of Rowan with her great-grandma Abbey taken a couple of weeks ago. Rowan even knows the names of some of her letters already.
Rowan playing with "ma-nets" on the fridge with great-grandma Abbey.

Christmas post #3: Shawville and Toronto

Here are some photos from Nigel's parents' place in Shawville, and from our trip to visit Nigel's Toronto-based family just after Christmas.

Rowan scoping out the presents. She loved the wrapping paper and boxes best, I think.

Rowan loves this toy she got from her Auntie Erica - you fill up the "pen" with water and draw on the mat.

Whee! Boxes!

Wooden puzzles are fun, too.

Rowan played a game of grab-the-dishtowels with her Auntie Erica

Rowan loved pushing and riding around on this cart.

Rowan with her great-aunt Mary and great-grandma Kay.

Cute Rowan in a box.
